DIY Earring Holder

YAY!  Can't wait to make some more of these.  These are kinda proto-types using stuff I had laying around.  The next ones will be bigger, and with fancier frames, and painted with a nice coating of shiny spray paint!  Don't be surprised if you get one of these for x-mas Annelies, your the only other person I know who has a ton of shepherd hook earrings like I do!

Some yummy salads recipes...

The first one I kinda just made up, and the other is from a deli I used to work in (from memory, so its a bit off)...

First:

Greek Orzo Salad

Chopped Cilantro, as much as you like. I used like a big pinch.
1/2 Box of Orzo Pasta
1 Lg Cucumber, chopped into quarters
1 c. Mixed Greek Olives, chopped
Feta Cheese, as much as you like
1 c. Steamed Asparagus, chopped on the bias
1/4 c. Chopped Walnuts
Salt and Pepper to taste (I don't use much salt b/c the olives are pretty salty)
Italian Dressing

Mix all together, let stand in the fridge for a while. You may need to add more dressing if the pasta has soaked it all up. Yummmy!

Second:

Chicken Thyme Salad

Two Cooked Chopped Chicken Breast
Half a Box of Penne Pasta (or whatever you like)
1/4 or so of Chopped Walnuts
Fresh Thyme, Chopped-- I didn't measure it :( Like 10 Sprigs?
Red Grapes, didn't measure those either...Like 2 cups?
Mayonaise. Enough to coat all pasta.
Tsp. or so of lemon juice
Salt and Pepper to taste.
1/4 of a small sweet onion Finely chopped
(i didn't use very much onion, cos I dont like onions that much)

I mixed the mayo, thyme, lemon juice, salt and pepper first, then added the rest. Again, let it sit. You may want to add a little more mayo if the pasta soaked it all up!

ENJOY!

Oh, I forgot!!

The invitations I designed for the Mukilteo Chamber of Commerce Business Showcase were printed, and the lady in charge dropped off a few for my portfolio! YAY!

Man, I haven't been very creative....

I have been slacking, but I do have a very special occasion swiftly approaching....BJORNS 1st BIRTHDAY! I'm going to make him a book, and I got him a hooded-towel and the hood part looks like a pirate hat! "Arrr, prepare to dry me booty!" I'll post up a picture of the towel and the first few pages of the book today sometime! Check back later.

Because I love environmental design...

The name may be misleading, environmental design has nothing to do with being "environmentally friendly", or "green". It is actually designing the environment around you, ie: way finding systems, or murals. Anyway, check this out:

New TOOLS!

I think all of my bead working tools are lost in my parents garage somewhere. Being the impatient person that I am, I just went ahead and ordered some new ones. I got a bunch of watches and jewelry from my friend Leigh (her mother passed away and left her with a huge box of QVC gems!), so I am going to take them apart and make some new things. I'll get to work on them right after my mini-Valentine-vacation. Check back to see what I come up with!

Bird Illustration Note Cards

I made these illustrations a while back. A few months later I made them into assorted colored note cards for Christmas gifts. I used assorted shades of green, and one paper call Thai Gold, I think they turned out really cute. I printed little bird inspired quotes next to each illustration, to bad when they were on my 24" computer monitor they looked nice and big, but when printed you need a magnifying glass to read them! Oh well, lesson learned!

Plarning

My mom taught me how to make yarn from plastic grocery sacks (plarn), and then crochet them into larger sacks. This particular bag is half finished. I decided that about every four rows I would skip a stitch leaving a gap large enough to weave a colored strand of plarn through. It takes a long time to make the plarn.

Fat Little Animals

I think I'll make a book out of these illustrations for my nephew Bjorn. (Click on the image to see a larger image)

Pretty Birdy Plate

I made this plate for my mother for Mother's Day last year. I love birds :) It looked really nice after it was fired.

Acrylic on Cardboard

A quicky painting I did for my sister-in-law. I haven't decided if I'll add some cows to the hills. My cell phone takes some ok pictures!

Photo Editing!

My dad had these two pictures. One of my grandfather in 1948, and the other of my grandmother on their wedding day (I don't know the year). He wanted the spots removed from grandpas face, and then he wanted the two pictures kinda melded into one. Here are the results. It doesn't look real per se, they are looking in different directions, and the photos have different tones, but I did my best!! **Click on images for larger more detailed images**
